John Rylands Library acquires ICI Dyestuffs Division archive

Imperial Chemical Industries (ICI), formed in 1926 by the merger of a number of British chemical  companies, was for a long time the largest manufacturer in British industry. The archival legacy of such a large and widely-distributed business is complex. However, the archive of its Dyestuff Division, based in Manchester, has now found an appropriate home in the John Rylands Library.

Nikon approaches 100th anniversary

The merger of three Japanese optical manufacturers in July 1917 was the origin of what is now the Nikon Corporation. The Tokyo-based global corporation manufactures a range of optical and electronic equipment but is best-known for the quality and popularity of its cameras.
