Aston Martin celebrates its centenary

Founded in 1913 by Robert Bamford and Lionel Martin as Bamford & Martin Ltd, the company was inspired to use the name Aston Martin after Lionel Martin had taken part in the Aston Hill climb in Buckinghamshire.

The Section on Business and Labour Archives within the ICA announces its annual Seminar

The Section on Business and Labour Archives (SBL) within the International Council on Archives (ICA) is pleased to announce its annual Seminar : "Crises, Credibility and Corporate History: tackling the archives conflict between scientific history and marketing", which will be held in Basel, Switzerland, on 14-16 April 2013.

Cataloguing Grants for Business

The National Cataloguing Grants Programme for Archives 2012 awards have just been announced. Among the thirteen projects funded, three involve business collections.

The Real Mr Selfridge

Over ten episodes, viewers on Sunday evenings can enjoy the story of one of Londons landmark department stores and its charismatic founder. Harry Gordon Selfridge arrived from the United States to establish the store that bears his name at what was then the unfashionable end of Oxford Street.
