Contributing to the success of London 2012 and the Cultural Olympiad, businesses and commercial organisations have been key to the delivery of the Games: from sponsorship and partnerships at national and regional level to local events and community initiatives.
London 2012 activities have generated potentially valuable records; and The National Archives is encouraging businesses to select and preserve those records for the future in their own archives, or by deposit with the right archive service.
The Olympic Record is a window into the past and the present of the Games. It will help to secure archive collections for the future, whoever has created them and wherever they are held.
The Olympic Record website was launched ahead of the Games to promote the existing history of the Olympics and Paralympics, and to showcase the diversity of the Cultural Olympiad. It is designed to engage organisations and businesses to secure a bold historical legacy of London 2012.
